Dog Days of Summer Are Slowly Approaching

With water temps steady at 69-73 degrees it is safe to say that summer is in full swing. Bugs hatching, fish suspended, tullibee floating.

The walleye fishing remains phenomenal!!!

Best depths are still out on the gravel/mud with a handful still hanging around in shallow water. Best baits continue to be Live bait, rigging/bottom bouncing as well as bobber fishing. There have been some reports of catching fish while trolling.

The bass have been a bit tight lipped as they are chowing on bugs pretty heavy at the moment. They are beginning to slide off relatively deep. The launch boats have caught a few stragglers out in about 25 feet. Certainly not much of a pattern to those extremely deep bass, but goes to show you how deep they will go. Best depths for bass have been 8-16 feet of water still, with drop shots and tubes working the best.

Muskies and northern are beginning to have quite the presence out deep as we have had multiple reports of fish being seen out on the gravel bars. I assume shortly we will see a lot more guys trolling, covering water out deeper looking for those suspended fish.

As of 7/1 we will no longer be able to use live bait, or target walleye. We will still be running launch boats, targeting multi species. This should make for a fun filled July as we can cover a lot  water while throwing plastics.
