Goodbye July, Hello Live Bait!

Goodbye July, Hello Live Bait!

The long awaited date of August 1st has arrived, and it brought plenty of hook sets with it.

Walleye fishing was spectacular.  With just 2 days of open bait, Bobber fishing was extremely effective. You can also try Lindy rigging your favorite rock reef points as well.
The deep gravel bite will remain the best for quite some time however. Set up shop on 25-32 feet of water, and it shouldn’t take long to put a fish in the boat. If you don’t catch a fish every 15-20 minutes I would recommend moving. Even as little as 150 yards will often times trigger a few more bites.

The bass fishing has been steady. We are seeing these fish slide out relatively deep, 25+ feet of water. The best depths are gonna be 12-18′. The tube bite has been uncommonly slow this season, but we have had a few reports of some fish being caught on them.
You can use a few more tactics up shallow on the rock flats, 5-9′ depth, (swim-baits, jerk-baits, and hair jigs). However there are less fish being caught, versus in the deeper waters. We have even seen a few fish being caught top-water.

We are still seeing muskies up on the shallow rock reefs while fishing for bass. However, there are a ton of guys still trolling the basins looking for them. they have been seeing some and moving some. Still waiting for the lucky angler to get a few hooks in one.

We are anticipating another busy weekend, so don’t hesitate to call and reserve your spot on any launches and/or guide trips. It should be a fabulous weekend of fishing and we cannot wait for it to start.
