We’re officially half way through October here on Mille Lacs. Fall color is just past peak but, the weather has still been mild and enjoyable. Many fisherman have been out targeting Smallies and Muskie and the area has seen a good share of small game hunters in search of grouse on the hundreds of acres of state land accessible just a short distance from the resort.
The ATV trails are still open through November 1st and the trails are in excellent condition. The trees along the trails have held their leaves and color a little longer as they are protected from the wind so it’s still a great time to get up and get a ride or two in. We’ve also had just enough moisture to keep the trails from being too dusty. We have convenient access to the Soo Line and trail maps are available at our front desk.
Deer Firearm season opens here Saturday November 5th, 2016. We are filling up fast. Breakfast for hotel guests will be served at 5:00am Saturday and Sunday morning so you can get a bite to eat and your morning coffee before heading out to the stand.
McQuoid’s will also be hosting the NAIFC Tournament here on Mille Lacs December 17th and 18th. Kids clinic will be held here at McQuoid’s on Thursday December 15th and all youth are welcome to come and participate. Kids will learn about fishing from the pros, how to bait their hook, and receive a free rod and reel to hit the ice with!
